Sound Tigers Hire Former Whaler As Color Commentator

Bridgeport, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have hired Chris Kotsopoulos as the team's new radio color commentator for the upcoming 2007-08 season. Kotsopoulos will partner with the team's current radio play-by-play announcer, Phil Giubileo, to call the Sound Tigers games.

"We are thrilled to have someone with Chris' knowledge and experience of hockey joining our staff," president Howard Saffan said. "Chris has a true passion for this sport. Our fans will benefit from hearing the game from someone who has played in both the American and National Hockey Leagues."

Kotsopoulos is a 12-year NHL veteran having played for the New York Rangers, Hartford Whalers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings. Over the course of his career, Kotsopoulos compiled 44 goals, 109 assists and 827 penalty minutes in 479 games. He recently completed the NHL Alumni Sports Broadcasting Workshop offered at Quinnipiac University, in Hamden, CT, which teaches players how to work in the communications field.

"I am extremely appreciative and excited about the opportunity the Sound Tigers have provided me," Kotsopoulos said. "After being away from the game for a several years, I've come to realize how much I miss working in the sport of hockey. I've always welcomed new challenges and can't wait to renew my hockey roots in Bridgeport."
