
Sound Tigers Announce Flagship Radio Station

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced 600 WICC-AM will be the team's flagship radio station for the 2003-04 season. WICC will broadcast a minimum of 50 regular-season games, as well as a live Sound Tigers update every Friday morning.
"We're thrilled the Sound Tigers will be broadcasting on WICC this season," said Ann McManus, Market Manager for Cumulus Media, which operates WICC and WEBE 108 FM. "Their games and weekly update will be exciting additions to our top-rated programming lineup."
"WICC and WEBE 108 are the dominant radio stations in the local market, and we look forward to working with them," said Sound Tigers Executive Vice President Todd Boe. "WICC's signal will make it possible for fans throughout the region to listen to Sound Tigers hockey."
Returning for his second season as the Voice of the Sound Tigers, Bill McLaughlin will handle the play by play for all game broadcasts on WICC, which can be heard throughout the state of Connecticut, as well as parts of Long Island, New York City, upstate New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. WICC and WEBE 108 are the top-rated AM and FM stations in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The Sound Tigers partnership with Cumulus Media will also include a marketing presence on both WICC and WEBE 108.
The Sound Tigers will begin their third season of play this fall under the guidance of new Head Coach Greg Cronin. The Sound Tigers will play a four-game preseason schedule including home games on Friday, September 26th at 7:35 p.m. versus the Worcester IceCats at Bridgeport's Wonderland of Ice and on Saturday, October 4th at 4:05 p.m. versus the Manchester Monarchs at the Winter Garden Arena in Ridgefield. The Sound Tigers will open the regular season on the road versus Hartford Friday, October 10th and will host the Philadelphia Phantoms in their home opener Saturday, October 11th at 7:05 p.m. at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.
The Islanders will host the Boston Bruins in an NHL preseason game at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard on Sunday, September 21st at 4:05 p.m. Ticket prices for the game begin at $25 with information available by calling the arena at 203-345-2400 or the Sound Tigers at 203-334-GOAL.
