Scott Stirling & Kevin Colley Sign Contracts

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the signing of Goaltender Scott Stirling and Center Kevin Colley. Both players were members of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies' 2002-03 ECHL Kelly Cup Championship team.

Stirling, 26, is the son of former Sound Tigers and current Islanders Head Coach Steve Stirling. The Hull, Massachusetts native was 8-2 with a 2.41 goals against average and .918 save percentage in ten games with Bridgeport and 1-0 in a single appearance with the AHL's Worcester IceCats last season. Stirling was 17-3-4 with a 2.93 goals against average, .906 save percentage and two shutouts in 25 regular-season games, as well as 8-4 with a 2.07 goals against average, .920 save percentage and a playoff-leading three shutouts in 12 postseason appearances for Atlantic City last spring. He also stopped 11 first-period shots to earn Most Valuable Player honors leading the Northern Conference to an 8-2 win at the ECHL All-Star Game in Estero, Florida last January.

Stirling split the 2001-02 season between the ECHL's Peoria Rivermen and Atlantic City. He led the ECHL in wins and tied for the League-lead in shutouts posting a 32-10-3 record, 2.14 goals against average, .922 save percentage and a five shutouts in 48 games with the Trenton Titans earning ECHL Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year awards while also playing in that League's All-Star Game in 2000-01. Stirling also played four years, 1996-2000, at Brown University of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Colley, 24, posted more than a point per game with Atlantic City last season notching 33 goals, 38 assists and 71 points in 50 regular-season games, as well as 13 goals, seven assists, 20 points and 27 penalty minutes in 17 playoff games. The Collingwoood, Ontario native tied for the ECHL's postseason goal-scoring lead with 13 markers after leading the Boardwalk Bullies with 190 regular-season penalty minutes last year. He also appeared in 22 AHL games with the Syracuse Crunch and Worcester IceCats last season posting two goals, three assists, five points and six penalty minutes in 16 games with Syracuse and one goal, one assist, two points and 27 penalty minutes in six games with Worcester.

Colley also played for Atlantic City, the AHL's Providence Bruins and Rochester Americans in 2001-02. He split the 2000-01 season between the ECHL's New Orleans Brass and Pensacola Ice Pilots and spent the majority of his rookie season, 1999-2000, with the ECHL's Dayton Bombers while also appearing with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack and ECHL's Charlotte Checkers that same year. Colley played three seasons, 1996-99, of junior hockey with the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals.
