Sound Head to Quebec for First Round

Patchogue, NY- The Strong Island Sound will head to Quebec City for a first round ABA playoff game on Saturday, March 17th. The expansion Kebekwa will look to use the home court advantage at Laval University and move on in the single-elimination tournament.

The Sound finished the regular season with a 20-13 record, one game behind the Wilmington Sea Dawgs in the Blue Central Division. The Kebs were 18-14 and third in the Blue North division.

In the final ABA Power Rankings, the Sound were number 13 and the Kebs number 16. The first eight teams received a first-round bye and then will host the winners of the opening round.

The Sound won the season series from the Kebs, three games to two. In their last meeting on March 4th, Strong Island handled Quebec City at Suffolk Community College, 113-96.

Awaiting the survivor of this contest is none other than the top ranked Vermont Frost Heaves. The expansion team, owned by senior Sports Illustrated writer Alexander Wolff, finished with a 30-6 record and are 13-2 in their last 15 games. Vermont won two out of three from Strong Island during the regular season.

The second-round playoff game will take place on Sunday, March 18th at 4:05 pm at the Aud in Barre.
