KEENE, N.H. - David Sosebee (Georgia) was nearly un-hittable tonight as he led the Keene Swamp Bats to a 1-0 victory over the Newport Gulls in a brisk one hour and 45 minute game at Alumni Field.

Sosebee threw a complete game two-hit shutout to get his first win of his NECBL season. He needed just 81 pitches to complete the feet and struck out six along the way. He improves to 1-4 on the year.

"It's good, got to love those quick games the defense played well behind me got me a run and it's good to get this win and get back on track," said Sosebee.

After being no-hit for the first four innings, the Swamp Bats scored the only run Sosebee would need in the bottom of the fifth inning on a one out RBI single by Brady Sheetz (Hartford) plated Jarred Mederos (St. John's) who led off the inning with a single.

"I was just trying to get a good pitch to hit but you got to give all the credit to Sosebee he pitched a great game out there and I just put the ball in play there at the right time," said Sheetz.

Newport starter John Kilichowski (Vanderbilt) pitched a complete game as well throwing eight innings, giving up one run (earned) on seven hits, no walks and struck out 10 on 106 pitches. He was saddled with the loss and falls to 1-2 on the year.

With the win, Keene improves to 15-17 on the year and is now tied with the North Adams SteepleCats, who were idle tonight for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division. Newport falls to 18-14 on the year and split the season series with the Swamp Bats.

The Swamp Bats will try to continue their winning ways tomorrow night against the Mystic Schooners. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
