Boise Hawks News Release

PASCO, Wash. - Francisco Sosa blooped a tiebreaking two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting the Tri-City Dust Devils to a 7-5 victory over the Boise Hawks, before 1,432 fans at Gesa Stadium.

The Dust Devils won despite four hits, taking advantage of three Boise errors and a season-high 10 walks.

Zach Osborne led off the decisive eighth inning with a walk, with Su-Min Jung walking Yafistel Roja and Charlie Blackmon to load the bases. After getting Kyle Von Tungeln to pop out, Sosa got just enough of a low curveball to muscle the ball into left to plate a pair. A single by Bijan Rademacher and a hit by pitch to Dong-Yub Kim in the ninth gave the Hawks hope, but Will Rankin struck out Stephen Bruno to end the game to pick up his fifth save.

Boise jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings. Bruno singled home Gioskar Amaya, who led the game off with a triple, with a second run scoring in the inning on a bases-loaded double play ball. Amaya roped a two-run single in the second, with Bruno delivering him with a sacrifice fly, to make it a five-run game.

Tri-City rallied in the fifth, as Sosa capped a four-run inning with a long three-run shot to left. The Dust Devils would tie it in the sixth, as Von Tungeln was walked with the bases loaded by Hayden Simpson.

Chris Dennis picked up the win in relief for Tri-City, allowing one hit and striking out three in two innings of shutout ball. Jung walked three to take this loss. Sosa went 2-for-4 with five RBI for the Dust Devils, while Amaya went 3-for-5 and Bruno went 2-for-4 for Boise.

Game 3 of the series is tomorrow night, with Ian Dickson going for the Hawks opposite Peter Tago at 8:15 p.m. (MT)
