Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, IA - The USHL's leading point-scorer, Jake Sondreal, has been named the league's Forward of the Week for his stellar performance during a three-win weekend for the Saints.

On his way to three-multi point games in the weekend, Sondreal scored four times and added two more assists. The Saints' captain has 58 points to lead the league by a four-point margin at the top of the rankings.

Sondreal opened the weekend with a pair of goals in a win over Cedar Rapids. Then, he recorded a goal and an assist in each of the wins over Des Moines and Lincoln to finish the weekend. His short-handed goal on Saturday leveled the game against Des Moines in the third period and sparked a Saints win late in regulation.

The Boston College-commit paces the USHL with 23 power-play points and is tied with teammate Juraj Pekarcik as the league's premier set-up men. Both players are tied for the league lead with 36 assists and 13 of Sondreal's have come on the power play.

Sondreal's 22 goals are tied for the fifth-most scored in the USHL with Sondreal outscoring his rookie season by nine goals with 18 contests left. Sondreal is the second Saints skater in as many weeks to win a weekly honor as Joona Väisänen earned Defenseman of the Week honors for last weekend's performance.
