Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - With a four-match unbeaten streak in hand, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC returns to Future Legends Field on Wednesday to take on the Richmond Kickers.
"They are a tough, tough team to play against," Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said. "They work harder than any other team in the league as a unit."
This will be the second time Hailstorm have faced Richmond this season, playing the Kickers to a 0-0 draw in Richmond on April 15. Richmond is the first opponent that Northern Colorado has faced for a second time this season.
"When we went there it was not one of our best games," Hailstorm midfielder Jackson Dietrich said. "Here at home we need to have a good start, dictate play, keep the ball, and I think if we're at 100 percent we should come out on top."
That Hailstorm confidence comes from their current four-match unbeaten run, which has seen them win three, draw one, and outscore their opponents 10-4.
"We've gotten a lot more clinical in front of goal," Zayed said. "Billy (King)'s on fire, Trevor (Amann)'s on fire, Jackson's adding goals."
Still, Richmond will be a tough test, especially as Northern Colorado is yet to beat them in four tries, picking up a draw and two losses against Richmond last season to go with the draw this season.
"I told the guys we haven't beaten them yet, and that's the challenge," Zayed said.
Hailstorm and Richmond kick off at 7 p.m. Mountain time Wednesday at Future Legends Field.
