Somerset Wins 6-2 to Clinch Series

Central Islip, NY - The Somerset Patriots (9-4) tripled up the Long Island Ducks (3-10) 6-2 in the rubber game of the three game series from Bethpage Ballpark on a brisk Thursday evening. Somerset finished their six game road trip winning five of their six contests.
In the top of the first inning the Patriots jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as third baseman Jake Fox slugged a three run homer (6) to deep left field. Fox now leads the Atlantic League in home runs.
Somerset slugged another homer in the second inning as catcher Adam Donachie belted a blast (1) to deep left field to expand the lead to 4-0.
The Ducks cut the deficit in half in the ensuing half inning as former Patriot Rian Kiniry laced a two RBI double in right-center field making the score 4-2.
Donachie smashed his second homer of the game as belted a two-run blast (2) in the eighth inning to deep left field again making the score 6-2. Donachie hit three homers all of last season yet hit two in one game tonight.
Graham Taylor (1-0) earned the win as he hurled six strong innings striking out nine batters while walking just one. Dontrelle Willis (0-1) suffered the loss as he walked five batters in the losing effort.
