August 27, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Helena Brewers News Release

The Helena Brewers (9-17) split their two-game series with the Missoula Osprey (15-11) with a 7-2 win on Wednesday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.

The Brewers took the first lead of the game when Troy Stokes was walked with the bases loaded by Anfernee Benitez (3-4) to score Jose Cuas. Stokes is now on a seven-game hitting streak, his longest of the season. He went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a walk.

Benitez was roughed up by the Brewers for the second time this season. He would give up four runs on seven hits in five innings of work.

In a 1-1 tie, the Brewers posted three runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. Carlos Belonis led off with a triple to center and Malik Collymore and Franly Mallen contributed RBI singles. Mallen, making his Pioneer League debut, went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.

Marcos Diplan threw one-hit baseball in four innings in the start for Helena, but would not qualify for a decision. He gave up just one run and struck out five.

Jose Cuas provided two late insurance runs for the Brewers, doubling to score Steven Karkenny and Yerison Pena in the eighth to extend the Brewers' lead to five.

Brad Kuntz picked up his first professional save, throwing the last 1 2/3 innings and striking out four.

The Brewers now head home to begin six games at home. First pitch between the Brewers and Osprey on Thursday from Kindrick Field is set for 7:05 p.m.
