Sod Poodles Announce Promotional and Special Theme Schedule for Inaugural 2019 Season

AMARILLO, Texas - The Amarillo Sod Poodles, Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, released their inaugural 2019 season promotional and special theme night schedule today with a wide variety of exciting events for Amarillo and the entire Texas Panhandle. Eighteen fireworks shows, seventeen fan giveaway nights and numerous promotional nights are featured throughout the Sod Poodles 70-game home schedule.

"We are excited to share with our fans our inaugural 2019 promotions and events, including a variety of fireworks shows and theme nights, exciting giveaways, daily promotions, and much more!" said Tony Ensor, Sod Poodles President and General Manager. "This community deserves the best and biggest promotions professional baseball has to offer and that is exactly what we are going to deliver year after year. There is no doubt that HODGETOWN is going to be the place to be this summer!"

The inaugural season of the Sod Poodles will kick off with a memorable Opening Night on April 8 which will include a Commemorative Ticket giveaway to the first 1,000 fans in attendance and the first-ever post-game fireworks show. The initial homestand will also introduce team daily promotions including $2 Tuesday (April 9), Wiener Wednesday (April 10), Thirsty Thursday (April 11), Friday Night Fireworks (April 12), Spectacular Saturday (April 13), and Sunday Funday (April 14). Hometown Hero Mondays will debut on May 3.

The team's first theme night comes around the corner in the Sod Poodles third homestand on May 4 when the Sod Poodles host STAR WARS Night at HODGETOWN while also featuring a post-game fireworks show. Two additional theme nights will be featured during the 2019 season - Super Hero Night on August 3 following the contest, and Harry Potter Sky Fest, which features the LARGEST post-game fireworks show to end the regular season, on August 31.

To begin the month of July, the Sod Poodles will be hosting their first Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4, featuring America's Pastime and patriotic themed post-game fireworks.

Seventeen fan giveaway nights will take place at HODGETOWN beginning in the first homestand. Featured giveaway nights include Team Poster on April 14, Sod Poodles "Friends" shirt on May 5, Cooler Drawstring Bag on May 26, Replica Jersey on June 16, Stadium Replica on August 4, and Sod Poodles Hoodie on September 1. All giveaway nights will be limited to the first 1,000 fans in attendance.

Additional highlights include Bark in the Park on May 15 and August 14, which allows fans to come to the park with their dog, entertainer nights featuring PBS character Daniel Tiger on May 24, and two educational STEM day games for school group field trips days on May 22 and August 28.

The Sod Poodles will host their inaugural home opener at HODGETOWN on Monday, April 8 against the Midland RockHounds (Oakland Athletics). First pitch for the home opener is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
