The San Diego Sockers (10-3) continue its most challenging stretch of their schedule with the longest road trip of the season by playing four games in six days. San Diego plays Orlando (1-10) on Thursday and then the Florida Tropics (12-1) in a heavyweight showdown on Saturday.
Before traveling to Florida and arriving around 11:00pm on Wednesday night in the Sunshine state, the Sockers went 1-1 on a two-day swing through Nuevo Leon and Sonora. On Monday, San Diego dropped a heartbreaking 8-7 overtime decision to Monterrey, but rebounded on Tuesday for a 9-6 win over Soles de Sonora.
Slavisa Ubiparipovic has a team-high 13 goals and leads the club with 19 points. Kraig Chiles is heating up and is now second on the squad in scoring with 18 points (12-6=18). Veteran midfielder Brian Farber is tied for second in goals with 12 goals and ranks third with 16 points.
San Diego is currently entrenched in a solid playoff position as the second-place team in the Western Conference behind the front-running Monterrey Flash.
