Silva, Ruggles Earn All MASL Honors for Week 11
February 5, 2020 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Florida Tropics SC News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. - Two members of the Florida Tropics - defender Drew Ruggles and goalkeeper Hugo Silva - have earned all Major Arena Soccer League Week 11 honors following the team's two-triumph trip to Texas this past weekend.
Silva was in goal in a 5-3 win over Mesquite on Feb. 1, the team's seventh straight win, and is the current leader in goals against average in the MASL at 3.61. The Outlaws fired 28 shots on goal, with the team getting 13 blocks.
The night previous, Brett Petricek shut out Dallas, who managed just 10 shots on goal. Petricek's 3.01 GAA would be tops in the league, but he falls just short of needed minutes played to qualify,
Ruggles leads the team with 14 blocks, and has contributed with 7 goals and 4 assists.
Florida will host San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. Coming into action this weekend, The Tropics at 12-1 and Sockers at 9-3 are two of the top teams in the league. Tickets are available by calling 863-240-0101, or by visiting fltropics.com. Both games will be streamed live at masl.tv, and the Feb. 8 home game will be televised live on WTTA-TV, Great 38 in Tampa.
