Sockers' Farias Receives MISL Honors

WESTPORT, Conn.- Sockers forward/midfielder Carlos "Chile" Farias was named to the All-MISL Second Team in an announcement made by the league office today. Peter Pappas and Pat Morris of the Philadelphia KiXX join Farias on the second team, as well as twin brothers Todd and Troy Dusosky of the Milwaukee Wave and David Bascome of the Harrisburg Heat.

Farias finished the season second in the MISL in scoring with 111 total points, behind MISL Most Valuable Player Dino Delevski. He led the Sockers with 28 two-point goals, 35 three-point goals and 28 assists.

The Sockers finished the season in the Western Conference Semi-Final game with a 13-15 loss to the Kansas City Comets. Overall the team closed out the 2002-03 season with a 14-22 record and third place in the Western Conference..

Other MISL awards include:

· Genoni Martinez of the Harrisburg Heat was voted the MISL Defender of the Year. Martinez led the league with 88 blocks while setting a new single-season record for the Heat. Martinez has also been named to the 2002-03 All-MISL First Team.

· Goalkeeper for Milwaukee Wave, Victor Nogueira has been named the MISL's Top Goalkeeper for the 12th time in his career. Nogueira, once voted the "Number One Indoor Goalkeeper in the World", has also added four League MVP Awards to his list of accolades.

· Keith Tozer, head coach for the Milwaukee Wave, was named the Coach of the Year. Tozer, finished his 11th season with the Wave and is a five-time recipient for the award.

· Kansas City's Dino Delevski won his second consecutive MISL Most Valuable Player Award. Delevski led the league with 50 goals and 140 points.
