Tucson Padres News Release
Brad Snyder led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a game-winning home run Monday as the Oklahoma City RedHawks beat the Tucson Padres, 4-3. The loss was the Padres third in a row and all three were decided by one run in Oklahoma City. The loss spoiled an excellent start for Jorge Reyes, who left with the lead after seven innings and allowed just one run.
Both teams scored once in the first inning and then neither side scored until the eighth. The Padres added two in the top of the eighth inning on Logan Forsythe's RBI single and Yasmani Grandal's bases loaded walk. In the bottom of the eighth inning, J.B. Shuck hit a tight-spinning, slow line drive and Everth Cabrera dropped it. One batter later, Jimmy Paredes hit a two-run home run to tie the game.
It was the second straight walk-off loss for the Padres, who lost Sunday on Carlos Corporan's game-ending single. Logan Forsythe was 1-for-4 with two RBIs in his first injury rehab game of the season. Forsythe is currently on the San Diego Padres 60-day disabled list after having surgery on his left foot in March. Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a double and now has a 17 game hitting streak. Josh Spence pitched the eighth inning for Tucson and allowed two runs, one earned. Spence was optioned from San Diego earlier in the day.
Next Game: Tuesday, 9:05 am (Tucson time) - Tucson LHP Tom Layne (0-3, 8.19) vs. Oklahoma City TBA. Game coverage begins at 8:50 am on Tejano 1600 AM.
Next Home Game: Thursday, May 17 vs. Nashville (Brewers affiliate) at 7:05 pm - Budweiser Thirsty Thursday.
