
Rusin Named PCL Pitcher of the Week

Sacramento, CA - The Pacific Coast League named Iowa Cubs pitcher Chris Rusin Pitcher of the Week for May 7-13. He is the first Cubs' player to win a weekly award this season.
In his two starts on this road trip against Fresno and Sacramento, Rusin has gone 2-0 and allowed just one run in 14 innings while striking out 12. His eight shutout innings yesterday matched his season and career-high while his seven strikeouts were also a season-best. In two career starts against the River Cats, Rusin is 2-0 with 18 strikeouts in 15 shutout innings.
Rusin enters play today ranked seventh in the league with a 2.83 ERA and fourth in the league in innings pitched (47.2) and WHIP (1.05).
The last Iowa Cub to win PCL Pitcher of the Week was Mitch Atkins for the week of May 31-June 6, 2010.
