Beloit Sky Carp News Release
The Beloit Snappers have donated $1,142 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rock, Walworth and Jefferson Counties as part of the Midwest League's On-Field Behavior Policy.
Each season, the Midwest League asks its member teams to select a deserving organization in their respective community to receive a portion of the money collected from fines handed out as part of the league On-Field Behavior Policy. Past organizations selected have included the Beloit Memorial High School Baseball Program, Beloit Youth Hockey Association, Stateline Youth Sports Complex, the Boys and Girls Club, Rock County Habitat for Humanity and the YMCA's Partners of Youth Program.
This annual donation is just one of the many ways the Snappers and Midwest League Teams make efforts to give back to their communities. In 2008, the Snappers also helped out local organizations such as the Beloit Youth Hockey Association, Merrill Community Center, Boy Scouts of America, E.C.H.O., UW Rock County, Turner Middle School Choir, Sharon Baseball, Beloit Bombers Baseball, Mercy Health Systems and many more in their fundraising efforts. The Snappers have also donated to over 250 different organizations and fundraisers in 2008.
Earlier this season, the Snappers also reached out to help the flood victims both locally and nationally. During their July 3rd game against the Clinton LumberKings, the Snappers donated 50 cents for every ticket sold and also cash donations received from fans to the flood victims, resulting in a total of $1,334.10. Half of that went to Minor League Baseball Charities (Flood Relief Fund) and the other half went to the Stateline United Way (Flood Relief Fund).
