UPCOMING GAMES AND PROMOTIONS

Friday/Saturday, December 5/6 - Columbus at Richmond, 7:35 PM EST (Last Season vs. RMD: 5-1-0) The Cottonmouths hit the road for a back-to-back set against the Richmond Renegades this weekend. After being shut out at Knoxville on November 23, the Renegades have reeled off three consecutive wins, including scoring a league-high 10 goals in a game against Fayetteville last Friday, and are currently in third place in the SPHL. However, the third place position is tenuous as fourth-place Fayetteville has three games in hand on the 'Gades. Former Cottonmouth Ryan Senft has returned for his second season as Richmond's #1 netminder, as he is 6-6-0 so far on the season with a 3.42 goals-against average, good for sixth-best in the league.

COTTONMOUTHS WEEK IN REVIEW

Thursday, November 27 - Knoxville 4 at Columbus 3 (Attendance: 2,253) Columbus jumped on the board first with a Dan Leslie goal just two minutes into the game, but Knoxville would score four of the next six goals in the game to win 4-3 on Thursday night. Other than Leslie, Michael George scored a goal and Steve Jensen notched the Cottonmouths' first shorthanded goal of the year. Chad Rycroft stopped 35 of 39 shots in the losing effort while Andrew Gallant turned away 27 of 30 shots in net for the Ice Bears. The Snakes were 1 for 5 on the power play while Knoxville was 2 for 11 with the man advantage.

Friday, November 28 - Columbus 2 at Huntsville 5 (Attendance: 4,069) The Cottonmouths suffered a 5-2 loss against the Havoc at the Von Braun Center on Friday night. The game was actually tied 2-2 at the beginning of the third period before Huntsville scored three goals in the final stanza to win going away. Ryan McCarthy and Tyler Johnson notched the goals for Columbus. Chad Rycroft kept the Snakes in the game by turning away 42 of 47 shots on goal. Tim Haun stopped 21 of 23 Snakes shots on goal for the Havoc. Both teams had seven power play chances with Huntsville converting on two of theirs and holding Columbus scoreless in all of their chances.

Saturday, November 29 - Huntsville 2 at Columbus 1 (Attendance: 2,436) Roman Marakhovski's goal early in the second period was all the offense the Cottonmouths could muster on Saturday night in a 2-1 loss to the Havoc, keeping them winless against Huntsville in five tries so far this season. Much like Rycroft's performance the previous night, Ian Vigier played well enough for the Snakes to pick up the win, stopping 31 of 33 shots in net for the Snakes. Ross Cherry turned away 41 of the 42 Cottonmouth shots on goal he faced for the win in net for Huntsville. Both teams were scoreless on the power play with Huntsville having six chances and Columbus four.

THREE STARS OF THE WEEK

1. F Michael George - George was the only Snake to register a point in all three games last week, scoring a goal on Thursday and logging assists on Friday and Saturday.

2. D Tyler Johnson - Johnson scored a power play goal and added an assist in Friday's game at Huntsville.

3. F Brad Patterson - Patterson tallied a pair of assists in Thursday night's game against Knoxville and had an even plus-minus rating in each of the three games during the past week. - After a loss in his first game of the season against Huntsville on October 24, Rycroft stood tall in stopping 29 of 30 shots in the winning effort against Twin City on Friday night.
