Senft Out For The Season

December 1, 2008 - SPHL (SPHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release

The Richmond Renegades today announced that their medical team confirmed that starting goalie RYAN SENFT had a torn ACL in his right knee and that surgery will be required to repair the ligament. The team has placed Senft on a season ending injury status. It is anticipated that he will have surgery with the team's surgical group from West End Orthopaedic within the next ten days. That will be followed by extensive rehabilitation at Virginia Sports Medicine before returning to Canada for the off-season.

This season Senft appeared in 13 games winning 6 and losing six with a GAA of 3.42 and a save average of .888. Last season he spearheaded the Renegades to a SPHL record 12 consecutive wins. He was injured in the second period of Friday night's game against Fayetteville when a player fell on his knee in the crease. The Renegades won the game 10-4.

"Ryan will really be missed by the team and the fans," stated team President/GM, Allan B. Harvie, Jr. "He has a great work ethic and always tried to find ways to improve his game. It will be very difficult to replace him."

Harvie also confirmed that NICK PERNULA, a recent acquisition from Maple Grove, MN, had been recalled by the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. In four games with the Renegades, all of which were Renegades victories, Pernula had two goals and 6 assists and was plus three. He will fly to Alaska to join the team for a three game series beginning Wednesday.

The Renegades continue their home stand with a rare double header this Friday and Saturday nights against the Columbus Cottonmouths. Friday night is Capital Ale House night with the first 1,500 fans receiving the second set of player cards courtesy of StandUpAndOwnIt.com. Saturday night is Comcast Spotlight/Scout night with some surprise gifts for fans.
