Snakes Sign Marakhovski, Waive Moor
November 24, 2008 - SPHL (SPHL)
Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths said goodbye to a familiar face and welcome another, as forward/defenseman Daryl Moor has been waived and defenseman Roman Marakhovski will rejoin the Snakes for a fourth time.
Veteran Daryl Moor has been with the Cottonmouths since the latter part of the 2004 season. In 167 games with the Snakes, he picked up 77 points. Moor missed the first three games of the 2008-09 season due to injury, and registered one point in eight games this season.
Marakhovski, also a veteran, will rejoin the Snakes. Marakhovski first played for the Cottonmouths of the CHL from 1998-2000. From 2000-2007 he played for several teams in the ECHL and CHL, as well as spending two seasons in France. He came to the Snakes for the nine remaining regular season games last season, picking up three goals and an assist.
"We're playing good hockey right now, but we don't have the confidence we need," head coach Jerome Bechard said. "It pains me tremendously to let someone like Daryl go, but to reach the confidence level we need to be successful, I felt this move was in the best interest of our hockey team."
The Snakes host the Knoxville Ice Bears on Thursday, Nov. 27 and the Huntsville Havoc Saturday, Nov. 29. Thursday is Georgia Lottery Night. The first 500 fans, 18+, will receive a scratch off lottery ticket. Aramark will also provide $1 hotdogs. Saturday is Kraft Noisemaker Night. Bring a boxed food item to make noise with at the game, and then donate it to the Valley Rescue Mission when you leave.
