Snakes Prepare For First-Round Playoff Action Vs. Surge

The sixth-seeded Columbus Cottonmouths are preparing for their sixth consecutive playoff appearance, and will take on the top-seeded Mississippi Surge in a best-of-five series, beginning Friday, April 2. The Surge will host games 1, 4 and 5, while the Snakes will host games 2 and 3 at the Snake Pit.

The Snakes open the series on the road, heading to Mississippi for game one Friday, April 2. Game two is Saturday, April 3 in Columbus with a special 5 pm start time, while game three on April 8 will be at 7:30 pm. Games 4 and 5, if necessary, will be played in Mississippi Friday and Saturday, April 9 and 10. The winner of this best-of-five series will advance to the SPHL finals.

Meanwhile, #2 Huntsville and #5 Pensacola will face off in best-of-three series, as will #3 Fayetteville and #4 Knoxville. The winner of each of those series will play each other in a second best-of-three series, with the winner advancing to the SPHL finals to face the winner of the Mississippi/Columbus series. The SPHL finals will be a best-of-five series.

The Snakes are 3-1 against the Surge at the Snake Pit, while the Surge is 4-0 against the Snakes in Mississippi. Tyler Johnson is the Snakes' leading scorer against the Surge, with three goals and five assists in eight games. Matt Zultek is the Surge's leading scorer against the Snakes with 9 goals and 2 assists in six games.

Seven-game playoff packages are available in the Snakes office. Fans who purchased playoff packages will use Game 1 tickets for the Saturday, April 3 game, and Game 2 tickets for Thursday, April 8. Individual playoff tickets are available through the Civic Center box office or any ticketmaster outlet, and can be reserved by calling the Snakes office during regular business hours, up until two hours before game time.
