Smokies To Welcome Two-millionth Fan On Thursday August 2nd

Sevierville, TN - The Tennessee Smokies Baseball organization proudly announces that on Thursday August 2nd, Smokies Park will welcome the 2,000,000th fan through the turnstiles for baseball games. With this season's current attendance, the Smokies are just 2,755 fans away from eclipsing this historical milestone. The Smokies are currently averaging 3,992 fans per game in 2007. The entire Smokies organization invites fans of all ages to take part in this historic event.

Staff members will be watching the main gates closely, counting down fans that enter the ballpark for the lucky 2,000,000th fan. The record-breaking fan will be honored during an on-field ceremony on Thursday night, and will be showered with gifts to commemorate the evening.

Gifts include a new Berkline recliner, a Nintendo DS Lite and game from Charter Communications, gift cards from Advance Auto Parts, Food City, Pilot & Ruby Tuesday, free Mayfield ice cream for the rest of 2007, and a signed Smokies jersey.

Smokies Park officially opened for baseball game on April 20, 2000 in Sevier County. The Smokies broke their all-time attendance mark for one season during their inaugural year, welcoming 256,141 fans through the turnstiles. During the 2003 season, Smokies Park broke the one million overall attendance mark. In seven full seasons at Smokies Park, the Tennessee Smokies have consistently drawn an average of 250,000 fans per year, with a record of 268,033 visitors in 2002.
