SEVIERVILLE, TN - The Tennessee Smokies defeated the Biloxi Shuckers on Sunday evening by a score of 5-0 at Smokies Stadium. With the win, Tennessee took the series over the Shuckers and won its second game in-a-row.

The Smokies got on the board first in the bottom of the fourth after being held hitless through three innings. Zack Short walked to start the inning and, after two outs, Yasiel Balaguert doubled down the left field line that scored Short and gave the Smokies a 1-0 advantage.

Tennessee added to its lead in the bottom of the sixth with another two-out run. The run came from Ian Rice as he belted his eighth home run of the season over the fence in left-center field. That put Tennessee up 2-0.

In the bottom of the seventh, Tennessee used its two out magic once again. With Wynton Bernard on second after a fielder's choice, Charcer Burks tripled to left field, scoring Bernard from first. P.J. Higgins followed up with a single that scored Burks and made the score 4-0, Smokies. In the bottom of the eighth, Tennessee added one more run as a double play from Balaguert scored Jeffrey Baez.

Zach Hedges replaced Robinson in the seventh inning and pitched a scoreless inning. In the eighth, Preston Morrison and Wyatt Short combined to get out of the inning after two runners reached scoring positon. Short pitched a scoreless ninth inning as well to close the game out.

The Smokies will have Monday off before they travel to Birmingham to take on the Barons. The first game of that series will be at 8:05 p.m. ET. Matt Swarmer is the projected starter for the Smokies as he goes for win number four on the season and his second win in-a-row. The Barons will counter with Tanner Banks.
