Mississippi Braves News Release

Pearl, MS - In game four of a five game series, the Tennessee Smokies continued their dominance over the M-Braves by scoring four unanswered runs and winning by a score of 4-1.

Mississippi had a short lived lead when they scored one run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Back to back singles from Alex Romero and Willie Cabrera set the table for Eric Duncan's sac flay to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Braves.

The Smokies would answer in the 3rd inning by scoring a run without even collecting a base hit. Jake Opitz led off the inning with a walk, was bunted to 3rd. A wild pitch advanced him to third base, and Tony Campana's ground out would bring in the run from third.

Tennessee grabbed their first lead in the 5th inning, scoring Jake Opitz and Hun-Wen Chen on a two-RBI single from Ty Wright. At this point, Tennessee would go ahead 3-1 and not look back.

One inning later, the Smokies led off the inning with a single from Robinson Chirinos and a double from Brandon Guyer. Chirinos' run would score on a wild pitch from Brandon Beachy. Tennessee led 4-1 after the 6th, which would be the final score.

The Smokies used Alex Maestri, Ryan Buchter and Jake Muyco out of the bullpen to silence the Braves following 5 strong innings from starter Hung-Wen Chen.

The Smokies improved to 4-0 while M-Braves are now 0-4. In the final game of the series, the Braves will throw LHP Richard Sullivan, while the Smokies will use RHP Craig Muschko.
