Smokies Hit Five Home Runs in a 10-5 Win

KODAK, TN - The Tennessee Smokies tied the series at two apiece with a 10-5 victory on Friday night. The Smokies tied a season high launching five home runs in the win. For the first time this season, Jordan Nwogu hit two home runs in a game to total three RBI's.

The Smokies scored early for the first time this series, with a two run home run from BJ Murray to take a 2-0 lead. Rocket City reached the scoreboard in the top of the second with an RBI groundout from Jose Gomez to cut the lead down to one run. Tennessee answered with a run of their own with the first solo home run by Jordan Nwogu.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Cole Roederer hit his twelfth home run of the season to plate two runs and extend the lead to 5-1. Rocket City catcher Tyler Payne hit an RBI groundout in the top of the fifth inning to make it 5-2. Haydn McGeary launched a three run home run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 8-2.

The Trash Pandas scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to make it an 8-5 Smokies lead. Tennessee got the insurance runs they needed in the bottom of the eighth when Nwogu blasted his second home run of the night to make it 10-5. The Smokies held on to win the game by a final of 10-5.
