JACKSON, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies ended their three-game losing streak with a 10-3 victory over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx on Wednesday afternoon at Pringles Park.

Smokies designated hitter Brett Jackson collected his fourth multi-hit game since joining Tennessee on Sunday to help power the Smokies to victory. Jackson went 3-4 at the plate with three runs batted in and two runs scored as the Smokies improve to 5-4 in the season's second half.

Tennessee starter Chris Carpenter picked up his sixth win of the season as he pitched five innings against West Tenn. Carpenter did not allow a run and only gave up five hits while striking out three batters in his fourteenth start of the season.

The Smokies took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as a Blake Lalli groundout scored Brett Jackson from third for the game's first run.

Tennessee added a pair of runs to the lead in the top of the second. Another groundout scored the second Tennessee run as Marwin Gonzalez brought in Josh Vitters. The Smokies made it a 3-0 game with Brett Jackson's RBI single that scored Brandon Guyer to put Tennessee up by three.

Robison Chirinos delivered the biggest blow of the game with his three-run homer in the top of the fifth that gave Tennessee a 6-0 lead. It is Chirinos' eighth homer of the season, and his first since May 14.

Jackson continued his strong hitting with his third hit in the day, an RBI double that brought in two runs to increase the Tennessee advantage to 8-0.

The Diamond Jaxx scored their first run in the bottom of the sixth against Tennessee reliever Jeremy Papelbon. Leury Bonilla hit an RBI triple to score Jose Yepez to get the D-Jaxx on the scoreboard for the first time all afternoon.

Tennessee answered that run with a score of their own in the top of the seventh, as Guyer's RBI double extended the lead to 9-1. Guyer would drive in another run in the top of the ninth to get the Smokies a 10-1 lead.

West Tenn scored twice off Tennessee reliever David Cales in the bottom of the ninth, but the Chicago native would get the final three outs to finish the game and preserve Tennessee's 10-3 win.

The clubs will play the fourth game of the series on Thursday night at Pringles Park. Hung-Wen Chen (8-5, 2.70 ERA) will pitch for Tennessee against West Tenn's Dan Cortes (4-2, 5.37 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 ET and fans can listen to the game on the Smokies Radio Network.
