MOBILE, Ala. - The Tennessee Smokies dropped their fourth straight game, falling to the Mobile BayBears, 3-2, on Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 after Mobile opened the scoring on a first-inning RBI single by Alfredo Marte, the Smokies tied the game up in the top of the third when Jim Adduci scorched his fourth home run run of the season into the parking lot past the scoreboard in right center field. Mobile would get that run back in the bottom of the third on a Marc Krauss sacrifice fly to make it a 2-1 BayBears advantage.

In the top of the fourth, the Smokies opened the inning with three straight singles to load the bases. The next batter, Luis Flores, hit a line drive past diving Mobile shortstop Dan Kaczrowski, plating a run to even the contest, 2-2. On that play, Mike Burgess, the runner at second, dove back into the base when Kaczrowski made the diving attempt, allowing center fielder Evan Frey to throw to third and force Burgess out on a fielders' choice. Adduci followed with a walk to re-load the bases, but Mobile starter Derek Eitel struck out his counterpart Dallas Beeler to strand the bags full.

Mobile took the lead for good in the fifth when cleanup hitter Marc Krauss lined a solo home run just to the left of the batters' eye to give the BayBears a 3-2 advantage.

From there, a trio of Mobile relievers each tossed a scoreless inning. Conrad Flynn retired the side in order in the seventh before being lifted from the game after surrendering a leadoff single to Junior Lake in the eighth. Eury De La Rosa entered and struck out the side to help the BayBears escape the jam in the eighth. Matt Gorgen worked around a two-out walk in the top of the ninth to notch his second save of the series and his fourth of the year.

Eitel (4-3) earned the win for Mobile, surrendering two runs on six hits over six innings. Beeler (1-4) suffered the loss, working six innings and allowing three runs on five hits with five walks and five strikeouts. Brian Schlitter was dominant out of the Smokies bullpen, retiring all six batters he faced while striking out three.

The Smokies and BayBears continue their five-game series on Friday night when Tennessee sends southpaw Eric Jokisch to the mound with first pitch slated for 8:05 p.m. ET at Hank Aaron Stadium. Jokisch, who will make his first start of the season for the Smokies, went 3-4 with a 3.48 ERA in nine starts for the High-A Daytona Cubs prior to being promoted to Tennessee on Tuesday. Mobile has yet to announce a starter.
