
Late Charge Gives Jackson 5-4 Win over Biscuits

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (MAY 24, 2012) - The Generals scored single runs in five innings Thursday night and defeated Montgomery in game two of the five-game set, 5-4. The series is even at 1-1. Carter Capps (2-2) picked up the win for Jackson tossing a scoreless eighth innings, striking out four of six batters faced. The Generals (28-19) lead the division over Huntsville by two games.
Kalian Sams brought in the first Generals run in the top of the second inning and led 1-0, with a sacrifice fly to center that scored Steven Proscia.
Montgomery struck for three runs in the third and fourth innings on a 2-run home run from Ty Morrison in the third and a solo shot by Ryan Garko in the fourth inning. The Biscuits took a 3-1 lead.
Jackson came back to tie the game at 3-3 by scoring a run in the fifth on an RBI single from Joe Dunigan, and then a solo homer from Denny Almonte in the seventh. The homer for Almonte was his seventh of the year and first since April 26.
Trailing 4-3, Kalian Sams delivered his second RBI of the night with a single scoring Steven Proscia in the eighth and Jackson notted the game at 4-4.
With two outs in the ninth Eric Campbell singled an 0-2 pitch to right scoring Francisco Martinez from second base and Jackson took the final lead of 5-4.
Jesus Sucre led the Generals going 3-for-4 at the plate. Steven Proscia was 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Generals starter Steve Garrison did not factor in the decision allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings.
The Generals continue their five-game series against the Biscuits on Friday night, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. CT. LHP James Paxton (3-2, 3.30) will take the mound for Jackson against RHP Jacob Thompson (1-4, 6.10) for Montgomery.
