
Smokies Come Back to Win Series in Rocket City

Madison, AL- The Tennessee Smokies erased a 4-1 Rocket City lead to win game five of the six game series by a final of 5-4.
Rocket City scored in the first inning for the second consecutive night to take a 1-0 lead. The Smokies got on the board in the third on a solo home run by catcher Pablo Aliendo to tie the game at one. The Trash Pandas answered in the home half of the third inning with three runs to take a 4-1 lead. In the fifth inning, Smokies center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2. Later in the frame, shortstop Luis Vazquez ripped an RBI single to make it 4-3.
The next inning, Tennessee took the lead with an Aliendo double, which scored Haydn McGeary and BJ Murray to take a 5-4 lead in the sixth inning. The Smokies bullpen was lights out, tossing 6.1 innings of scoreless baseball, while striking out eight batters to keep Rocket City scoreless and hang on to a close 5-4 victory.
The Smokies win the series over Rocket City with a win on Saturday night and now improve to 15-11 on the season. Tennessee currently sits atop the leaderboard in the Southern League North by two games. The series final starts tomorrow in Madison, Alabama at 3:35 ET.
