Mississippi Braves News Release
GREENVILLE, SC -- The Southern League's Eastern Division leading Tennessee Smokies got back to their winning ways Saturday night with a 7-4 victory over the Greenville Braves at Greenville Municipal Stadium. The Smokies pounded out 11 hits in route to their eighth win in their past nine games against the G-Braves.
The Smokies started the game with a two-run first inning off of G-Braves starter Adam Wainwright (5-7) on a pair of RBI singles from Caonabo Cosme and Kevan Burns.
Greenville answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first inning. Ramon Castro led off with a single to right that extended his hitting streak to eight games, and he came around to score on a Jason Fitzgerald ground out. The G-Braves tacked on another score in the second off of Smokies starter Chris Narveson (2-0) to tie the game.
Tennessee batted around in the third inning as they took advantage of four Wainwright walks, a wild pitch, and a past ball in route to three runs on two hits. Bucky Jacobsen stretched the score to 6-2 with his 19th homerun of the season in the fourth frame.
Cory Aldridge ripped his ninth homerun of the season in the eighth off of Smokies reliever Jeremy Lambert.
Willie Collazo went five innings and allowed only three hits in relief of Wainwright.
