CHATTANOOGA, TN- The Smokies rebounded after an 18-0 loss last night with a 4-0 win tonight. Tennessee starter Walker Powell won his seventh consecutive start tossing six shutout innings, allowing five hits, two walks and striking out five batters.
The Smokies scored early in the second inning, when Pablo Aliendo blasted his fifteenth home run of the season to make it 2-0 Tennessee. In the top of the seventh inning, Aliendo struck again with a double to score Bradlee Beesley to take a 3-0 advantage. Later in the inning, Jordan Nwogu singled on the infield to score Aliendo and make it 4-0.
The Lookouts made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth inning after a leadoff single by Tyler Callihan, followed by a walk to put two runners aboard. Smokies reliever Blake Whitney then struckout two of the next three batters to end the ballgame, securing a 4-0 Smokies win.
The Lookouts left 10 guys on base tonight and finished game four 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Smokies on the other hand only left seven on base and hit .363 with runners in scoring position (4-for-11).
