
Smokies' Bats Come Alive in Game Two Win

CHATTANOOGA, TN- The Smokies bounced back with an 8-4 victory on Wednesday night. Tennessee scored eight runs in the first four innings of the ballgame to establish a dominant early lead.
The Smokies scored two runs in the top of the second inning on a single by Cole Roederer to score Bradlee Beesley and take a 1-0 lead. On a pickoff attempt to first, Roederer got into a rundown, allowing the runner to score from third base and take a 2-0 lead. In the top of the third, the Smokies tacked on two more on a BJ Murray RBI single and a Haydn McGeary sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-0.
Tennessee did some damage in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on a two RBI single by Levi Jordan, followed by a two RBI double by McGeary to double the lead to 8-0. The game would remain 8-0 until the Lookouts cut it in half in the bottom of the seventh. Smokies reliever Brailyn Marquez walked four batters in the inning, along with two hits to plate four Lookouts runs and cut the lead down to 8-4 after the seventh.
The Smokies and the Lookouts would each go scoreless in the final two innings, completing a Smokies win by a final of 8-4. Tennessee starter Cade Horton picked up his first ever Double-A win, tossing five scoreless innings and striking out six batters. The Smokies and the Lookouts battle again tomorrow in game three of the series. First pitch is set for 7:15 P.M.
