
Smith, Turman Earn Team\'s Weekly Honors

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC â Defensive specialist Demont Smith and quarterback John Turman have earned the Charleston Swamp Foxes' weekly awards, the team announced today. Smith earned the Fox Hole Fan Club's weekly award while Turman was tabbed as the Player of the Week by the front office.
For the second time this season, Demont Smith tallied three interceptions in one game, pushing his season total to an arenafootball2 leading 7. He tallied a trio of picks in the 30-13 loss to Cincinnati two weeks ago and currently has 10 career interceptions.
Smith also led the team in tackles, tallying three solo stops in the win over Columbus. In addition, he tallied a pair of kickoff returns for a total of 77 yards, including a team-long 51 yarder to help him lead the team with 154 all-purpose yards on the night.
Turman, playing in his second game as a Swamp Fox, completed 18-of-33 passes (54 percent) for 223 yards, including a season-long 45-yard strike, and five touchdowns. He accounted for six total touchdowns on the night, tallying his first career rushing score from two yards out late in the first quarter.
The Swamp Foxes' look to avenge an early season, 33-27 loss to the Florida Firecats this Saturday night at 7:30 pm at the North Charleston Coliseum. Kick off is set for 7:30 pm.
