Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

NEW YORK- Three Atlanta Silverbacks were named by the NASL on Tuesday in the initial ballot for the league's 2015 year-end awards, featuring a selection process that considers fan input as one factor to determine who brings home the prestigious prizes. Defender Paul Black and forward Jaime Chavez received shortlist nominations for the league's Golden Ball (Most Valuable Player), while head coach Gary Smith can receive votes for NASL Coach of the Year.

The league office released information Tuesday for the league's postseason awards, some of which include a fan component to give NASL supporters a say during award season. Starting on Oct. 13, fans can have their voices heard in three of the year-end awards- Golden Ball, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year- with a Goal of the Year vote also coming at the conclusion of the Fall Season.

Decisions for the remainder of the awards- including Best XI Golden Glove, Golden Boot, Humanitarian of the Year and the Fair Play Award- will come from the NASL's coaches, the league office or from statistical consideration.
