Slow Start to Road Trip

Missoula, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox defeated the Missoula Osprey 4-2 at Play Ball Park in Missoula. Carlos Perez (1-2) took the loss for the Sox as he worked four innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits. The win went to Marc Romanczuk (1-1) as he worked six innings, allowing one run on five hits.

Great Falls scored in the first inning on a Manny Rodriguez double to left scoring Garrett Guest. In the bottom of the fist inning, Missoula got a lead off single and two walks to load the bases before a double by Byran Byrne scored all three runners. Missoula then added a run in the second inning on an error by Brandon Johnson to put the Osprey up 4-1.

The score remained 4-1 until the eighth inning. Great Falls scored on a RBI groundout by Javier Castillo to cut the lead in half. The Sox would not be able to get any closer and dropped the road trip opener 4-2.

In the game, Great Falls stranded nine men on base.

Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second of this three game set with the Missoula Osprey. The starters for the game are: Paul Moviel (RHP) for Great Falls and Jason Neighborgall (RHP) for Missoula. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
