Slippery Rock, PA -After a month of waiting, 92 unique team name submissions, and nearly 1,000 votes in the Name the Team contest, the name of Slippery Rock's club in the Frontier League will be unveiled tonight.

The team name, logo, and inaugural season merchandise will be announced in a ceremony taking place at the Texas Roadhouse inside Clearview Mall in Butler starting at 7:00 pm. Fans are encouraged to attend and show their support for Butler County's first professional baseball team in 55 years.

The inaugural season logo and merchandise were designed by Ibistek Apparel of Butler, who will be serving as the official merchandiser for Slippery Rock Professional Baseball.

"We hope to have a large turnout of fans this evening to show their support for Frontier League baseball in Butler County," commented Slippery Rock general manager Steve Tahsler. "I'd like to thank the Butler County Radio Network for administering the Name the Team contest, Ibistek Apparel for their creative work in designing the logo, and the Texas Roadhouse for hosting tonight's event."

The logo will be introduced by the winning fan in the Name the Team contest, who will receive four reserved tickets to Opening Night, be introduced during the pregame ceremonies along with the team, and participate in the ceremonial first pitch.

Slippery Rock Professional Baseball will begin its inaugural season on Wednesday, May 23, at the Washington Wild Things. The home opener will be on Tuesday, May 29, against the Florence Freedom. 32 home games will be played during the summer at Jack Critchfield Park on the campus of Slippery Rock University.
