SLIDERS WIN PROTEST; LAST NIGHT'S GAME TO RESUME AUGust 1st

July 17, 2012 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Springfield Sliders News Release

The Prospect League Commissioner's Office announced today that the Springfield Sliders were successful in their protest of last night's game, due to the back to back mound visits made by Terre Haute Manager Brian Dorsett without a pitch being thrown in between. Dorsett came out twice in a row to allow more time for his bullpen to get ready, since when the inning started he didn't have anyone getting warmed up. Sliders' Manager Pete Romero came out and argued unsuccessfully with the umpires about the situation and was eventually ejected. The game will be resumed on August 1st, before the scheduled game between the two teams at Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute, IN. Ryan Aper will be at the plate for the Sliders with Sean Gerber at third and Reagan Fowler at first and two outs in the top of the ninth, with Terre Haute leading 10-8. The Commissioner also announced the Romero will be suspended for today's game against Dubois County for being ejected last night. Tonight's game starts at 7:15 ET and can be heard on the Springfield Sliders' Ustream channel.

The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League, playing at historic Robin Roberts Stadium. The Sliders are members of the Western Division along with the Danville (IL) Dans, DuBois County (IN) Bombers, Hannibal (MO) Cavemen, Quincy (IL) Gems, and Terre Haute (IN) Rex.
