HUNTINGBURG, Ind. - Alex Britt dominated, and the Dubois County Bombers snapped a three-game losing streak, beating the Springfield Sliders 5-0 Tuesday night at League Stadium.

Britt surrendered only three hits and three walks and struck out 10 while going the distance.

"[Britt] came out and competed on the mound," Bombers centerfielder Austin Nyman said. "He set the tempo for us."

The Dubois County offense set its own tempo in the first inning, taking the lead on a series of Sliders mistakes.

Nyman led off by reaching on an error by Springfield shortstop Matt Highland, and Bo Ausmus followed with a walk.

With Dalton Rouleau batting, Nyman and Curry attempted a double steal, and catcher Sean Gerber's throw to third sailed into left field, allowing Nyman to score.

"We try to push the play and be aggressive," Nyman said. "We're at our best when we play like that."

Dubois County increased its lead to 4-0 in the second. Zach Long and Landon Curry walked with one out, and Nyman followed with a single.

Up came Ausmus, and he ripped the eleventh pitch of his at bat down the third-base line for bases-clearing double. Ausmus went 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs-batted-in.

Nyman scored for the third time to extend the Bombers' lead to 5-0 on Jeff Zahn's groundout; Nyman finished 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored.

JD Dozier took the loss for Springfield, surrendering all five runs - four earned - on four hits and six walks in four innings. He also struck out three.

Sliders pitching walked nine in the game.

The Bombers improved to 6-6 in the second half while the Sliders fell to 5-7. The two teams play again Wednesday at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Ill., at 7:35 p.m.
