Slave Lake Residents Welcome to Edmonton Capitals Games

May 25, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
Edmonton Capitals News Release

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals announced today they are opening their doors to Slave Lake residents for the month of June. In order to offer a reprieve from the extreme circumstances the community is going through right now, the Caps have extended an invitation to all residents of Slave Lake to attend any Capitals home game in the month of June, free of charge.

"With everything the community of Slave Lake has gone through over the last few weeks and for what lies ahead, we thought this invitation to be our guest for a night out at the ballpark could serve as a bit of a distraction. If we can help take their minds off things for just a few hours, we feel it'll be time well spent." said Capitals Governor Patrick LaForge.

Slave Lake residents that wish to capitalize on this offer can simply show valid identification at the Capitals Ticket Office down at TELUS Field and can redeem up to six complimentary tickets for any game in the month of June.

Also, representing the Town of Slave Lake on Capitals Opening Night will be Edmonton Oil Kings veteran forward and Slave Lake native T.J. Foster who will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The Capitals will also be encouraging fans to bring cash donations to help out the Red Cross Slave Lake relief effort.

"We'd like to thank everyone for their tremendous support and generosity for our residents." said Slave Lake Mayor Karina Pillay-Kinnee. "We are avid ball fans so this is definitely a treat. It's also great to hear that T.J. is throwing out the first pitch, we know he'll do our community proud. We are working hard to bring our citizens home and it's an amazing feeling to know others are thinking about us."

Edmonton Capitals will open the inaugural North American League baseball schedule Thursday May 26th in Calgary. Opening Day in Edmonton is set for Tuesday May 31st against the Vipers at 7 p.m. Tickets start at just $10 and are available at the Capitals Ticket Office at TELUS Field (10233 - 96 Avenue), by calling (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
