Slammers Take Game 2 and Series over the Wild Things
May 31, 2017 - Frontier League (FL)
Joliet Slammers News Release
Joliet, IL - The Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy took the field behind RHP Shane Bryant (0-2) as Joliet opposed LHP Trevor Belecek (1-1). Washington wasted little time scoring first after a sacrifice fly from first basemen Kane Sweeney.
Shortstop Chaz Meadows had a night to remember collecting three hits in four at bats and tied the game with a bloop into right that allowed Meadows to motor all the way to third to tie the game at one. The Slammers would then take the lead and Bryant continued to deal on the mound. Washington scored one more in the 5th after another sac fly from Bralin Jackson to tie the game at 2.
Red-hot Juan Silva continued to see the ball well as he added the final blow with a towering three run shot to right-center, picking up his 4th home run, tying Rock Shoulders for the team lead.
Washington was unable to score against Tyler Greene or Brian McKenna as the Slammers emerge victorious and clinch the series win. Game 3 is set for tomorrow night at 7:05.
Shane Bryant picked up his first win of the season.
Chaz Meadows was tonight's Merchants and Manufacturer's Bank Player of the game for his two doubles and 2 RBIs.
