Slammers ready for playoff push
March 25, 2004 - SPHL (SPHL)
Alabama Slammers News Release
With just five games remaining in the Alabama Slammers regular season, the Slammers (31-19-3) are playing their best hockey of the season.
Winners of eight out of their last ten games including six in a row at home, Alabama has strengthened their hold on second place and are in good position to secure home ice advantage for the opening round of the WHA2 playoffs.
Despite the team's great record of late, the margin for error is quite narrow. Most of the Slammers remaining games will be against clubs hungry either to claw their way into the postseason picture or to enhance their seeding.
"This is going to be a tough couple of weeks," coach Garry Unger said. "Everyone is fighting for a playoff spot right now. We're going to have to battle every inch of the way to push down those teams that are coming up behind us."
