
Slammers Down Windy City 7-4 on Saturday

Crestwood, IL The Joliet Slammers (38-51) used a fine pitching performance from Michael Carden and timely offense to defeat Windy City (38-51) 7-4.
Carden and Thunderbolts starter Austin Wright were locked in an early dual, as the game was scoreless into the 5th inning. The game was a 1-1 tie after five and a 2-2 tie after six innings. Joliet took the lead for good with a two-run 7th inning, as Wright was pulled entering the 8th. He allowed four runs, three earned, on ten hits while striking out seven. Carden went seven strong innings for the win. He allowed two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Dan Tobik allowed a run in the 8th and Navery Moore gave up a run in the 9th.
Alfredo Rodriguez knocked in a pair of runs for the Slammers with an RBI double and sacrifice fly. Joe Staley had a big day with three hits, a homer and 2 RBI. Max Casper also had a three-hit day with a run batted in.
The Slammers return home on Friday, Sept. 4th at 7:05pm to open the season-ending three game series vs. Rockford. The opener will be a Fireworks Friday and will be Halloween as well. Dress up and receive a drink voucher. Saturday at 6:05pm will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night and Sunday at 5:05pm closes out the regular season with Fan Appreciation Night. The Joliet Slammers, presented by ATI Physical Therapy, play at Silver Cross Field in downtown Joliet, Illinois, and are members of the professional, independent Frontier League. The Frontier League is a 14-team league in its 23rd season of play in 2015.
