Bellingham Slam News Release
Bellingham , Wash. - The American Basketball Association's Bellingham Slam are set to make their 2006 home debut at Whatcom Pavilion Thursday night at 7 p.m. against the Hollywood Fame, the team announced today.
The Slam opened the 2006-07 season on the road last Sunday with a 108-96 victory over the King County Royals in Seattle. The Slam had four players score in double figures, with forward Mike Parker leading the way with 36 points.
The Slam's opponent will be the Hollywood Fame, an expansion team in the ABA this season. The Fame is owned by a group of athletes and celebrities including former NBA player John Salley and singer Nick Lachey, and the team is coached by former NBA head coach Don Casey. The Fame announced last week that actor Geoff Stults would be suiting up to play this week against the Slam.
Thursday's game against Hollywood is the start of a four-game homestand for the Slam. The two teams will play in a re-match Friday night, before the Beijing Olympians come to town for a pair of games Nov. 21 and 22. All games will start at 7 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
Tickets for the home opener on Thursday are selling fast, with less than 200 general admission tickets remaining. Tickets for all games are currently on sale through the Slam's office at 1200 Lakeway Drive, by calling the team at 734-SLAM or by purchasing online at www.bellinghamslam.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
