Hitter of the Week

DELWYN YOUNG – JACKSONVILLE SUNS

Jacksonville Suns' second baseman Delwyn Young led all Southern League players with 13 hits in seven games this past week. Among those 13 hits were three home runs and two doubles to go along with nine RBI. After batting .433 last week, Young is currently hitting .287 with eight home runs and 23 RBI on the season. The second baseman was selected in the fourth round of the 2002 draft out of Santa Barbara Community College in California. Baseball America ranked Young the 18th best prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers' organization.

Pitcher of the Week

MATT WRIGHT – MISSISSIPPI BRAVES

Right-hander Matt Wright had two stellar outings this past week to capture BC Pitcher of the Week honors. On May 23 at BellSouth Park in Chattanooga, Wright held the Lookouts' offense to one earned run in six innings pitched in a 3-2 Mississippi victory. At home on May 28, the right-hander shut down the potent Biscuits' offense, pitching eight innings of shutout baseball in the Braves' 5-0 win. Wright was selected by the Braves in the 21st round of the 2000 draft out of Robinson High School in Waco, TX.
