San Jose, CA. The ABA San Jose Skyrockets officially announced their first tryouts in Japan. The Skyrockets are looking for Japanese talent and hope to expand its marketing into the Bay Area's Japanese-American community.

Kazumi Hasegawa, co-owner of the San Jose Skyrockets and one of the first female Asian owners of a professional sports team in American sports history, stated, "These are the first tryouts in Japan, not only in our organization's history, but in ABA history, and we hope to generate interest in Japan not only for our team, but for the league in general. We look forward to what Japan has to offer in terms of talent and hope to find quality, competitive players to bring back with us. The team would like to give Japanese players an opportunity to play in this highly competitive league in order to help the sport develop in Japan."

The tryouts will take place at Yokosuka City Gym in Yokosuka, Japan on Sunday, August 14th. The cost is 25,200 Yen for pre-registration and the cost for walk-up is 31,500 Yen.
