DES MOINES, Iowa - The College Park Skyhawks held off the Iowa Wolves for a 113-99 victory on New Year's Day at Wells Fargo Arena.
Atlanta assignment Kobe Bufkin scored a game-high 33 points for College Park (2-1). Chris Silva posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Minnesota assignment Leonard Miller led Iowa (0-2) with 19 points and added 10 rebounds. Trevor Keels and fellow assignment Wendell Moore Jr. each had 14 points.
Iowa, which trailed by double figures most of the game before Moore's three cut the deficit to just two points minutes into the fourth quarter. Moore's three-pointer was part of a 10-2 run to help Iowa back into the game. But Bufkin and Silva countered with baskets in an 11-3 run by the Skyhawks that kept the leads in double digits.
Iowa has a fast turnaround with the Memphis Hustle (0-1) coming to Wells Fargo Arena on New Year's Day for a 2 p.m. CT matinee game. The teams will finish the series on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
