Sussex Skyhawks News Release
Today at Skylands Park stellar pitching was once again on display, as the North Shore Spirit defeated the Sussex Skyhawks 3-2. Both starting pitchers were excellent and in a feat that is rarely seen in baseball today, both pitchers tossed complete games. Spirit starter Ryan Bicondoa was dominant, allowing only 2 runs, both of which were unearned and came during the Skyhawks rally in the 9th inning. This is the second strong outing from Spirit pitching as Dennis Robinson pitched a complete game shutout on Friday night. Skyhawks starter Matt Hirsh had his best outing of the season so far, allowing only 3 runs over 9 innings of work. Hirsh looked shaky at first and even walked in a run in the 2nd inning, but settled down nicely allowing only a home run to Jerson Perez in the 9th inning, that would turn out to be the difference in the game. The Skyhawks look to rebound tommorow and capture the final game of the 3 game series with the Spirit here at Skylands Park with first pitch set for 2:05. Joey Siak(6-2) will take the mound for the Spirit, against Vince Davis(5-6) for the Skyhawks. Its Dog Days on Sunday so come out and bring your dog out to the game.
