But the Cutters exploded in the late innings and trailed by only one run entering the seventh. The Cutters got their first two batters of the frame on base without a hit, as DH Henri Stanley reached on an error before Jackals reliever Kevin Fitzgerald walked RF Jeremy Pickrel. New Haven County 3B Junior Zamora, who leads the team in home runs, then laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance each runner one base. With first base open, Fitzgerald then intentionally walked SS Chas Terni to load the bases and struck out 1B Chris Gaskin. But with two outs and the bases loaded, LF Kevin Whiteside picked up his second hit of the night to score two runs and give New Haven County a one-run lead. Cutters closer Andy Weimer then put together a 1-2-3 inning to finish off the Jackals in the bottom of the seventh inning and earn his 14th save of the season.
