Sussex Skyhawks News Release

The Skyhawks offense resumed its hot hitting ways after struggling against Jackals pitching on Sunday, by scoring 8 runs on 11 hits, to defeat Les Capitales de Quebec 8-5. All season long the Skyhawks have been able to score runs against opposing pitchers, the problem was usually their inconsistent pitching.

Tonight the Skyhawks received a quality start from Edisbel Benitez who allowed 2 runs over 5 2/3 innings, while the bullpen was shaky but worked its way out of trouble. Jabe Bergeron and Jared Lemieux stole the show offensively for the Skyhawks, as Bergeron went 4-4 with 3 runs scored and Jared Lemieux was 2-3 for 3 RBIs. Scott Grimes also was a big part of the offensive attack, blasting a 3 run homer to left center, insurance that the Skyhawks would later need. Capitales starter Kevin Beavers was in trouble for most of the night allowing 7 runs, 5 earned over 6 2/3 innings of work.

The Skyhawks look to continue their hot hitting Tuesday night at Skylands Park with first pitch set for 7:05. Matt Hirsh(0-1)will take the mound for Sussex against Michel Simard(6-5) for Quebec. Come out to the park for Halloween night as well as $1 drink night.
