Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls S.D. - The Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 128-121 at the Sanford Pentagon Saturday night. After trailing for much of the second half, Sioux Falls cut the Los Angeles lead to two points in the fourth quarter, but failed to take the lead en route to their first loss since Dec. 5, snapping a seven-game winning streak.
Los Angeles (4-7) shot 60 percent from the three-point line and had five players miss one shot or less from downtown. Sioux Falls (10-3) was 8-of-17 from downtown in the second half, but couldn't overcome a 2-of-7 performance in the first half and never took the lead in the final 24 minutes.
After trailing by as many as 17 points, Sioux Falls got within two points (111-109) with 4:41 left to play in the game. The run was a result of a series of individual efforts on consecutive possessions, such as Justin Hamilton hitting back-to-back three-pointers and Charlie Westbrook getting two consecutive steals that led to two fast-break buckets.
Los Angeles was led by C.J. Williams with a game-high 34 points behind 5-of-6 3-pointers. Manny Harris and Jamario Moon both scored 24 points, Andre Ingram came off the bench to score 20 and Travis Hyman finished with 11.
Sioux Falls was led by DeAndre Liggins and Hamilton, who both netted 27 points in the loss. Henry Walker and A.J. Davis both scored 17, Westbrook came off the bench to score 16 and Ryan Evans finished with 13. On the glass, Hamilton and Davis both pulled down 10 rebounds, and Hamilton achieved his third consecutive double-double.
Sioux Falls visits Fort Wayne Monday at 6 p.m. CT. Los Angeles visits Idaho Monday at 6 p.m. PT.
